President's Message
November is always a special month. First, it is a time for Thanksgiving and to reflect on all we are thankful for. Second, it is my birthday month. Even though I lost my job at MPI Research due to downsizing, I am thankful for so many things. I am currently looking for a new position and hope to be employed soon. In the meantime, my home email address is: mouzoonian@att.net. Please feel free to keep in touch using this email address.
December is a month packed with so many things to do and see. What a special time of year with decorations, Christmas concerts, family, presents, and so much more. I hope you will take time to reflect on the "Reason for the Season."
The MD Board is meeting regularly to provide assistance, encouragement, and opportunities for each chapter and member. A few of these items are included in this issue of High Speed Connections.
With Passion & Purpose,
Marie A. Ouzoonian, CPS/CAP
Michigan Division President
Pathways to Excellence
The MD Board would like to encourage each member to become a Member of Excellence (MOE) this year. Click here to view the MOE criteria sheet. Take a look and get involved. It is not difficult to become a Member of Excellence.
Also, the MD Board would llike to encourage each chapter to become a Chapter of Excellence (COE) this year. Again, review the criteria sheet and give it a shot. You can do it. The COE criteria is available by clicking here.
Special Note: Only online submissions for the criteria worksheets are accepted at IAAP headquarters. Please do not submit via mail or fax.
Nominations for Division Officer
It is not too early to begin thinking about taking that next step in IAAP and becoming a Division Officer. Nomination forms will be available soon and will be due by February 25, 2011. We encourage you to give it a try.
MDAM Updates
During a conference call in December, the MD board reviewed and updated the MDAM Volunteer sheets. They will be posted on the MD website in January. If you have never attended MDAM, you won't want to miss this one! We are going to have a great time networking, learning new skills, and attending a seminar and business meeting. Also, we are planning a very cool LAN meeting and Open House. We hope you will plan on attending this year in Lansing, Michigan on May 20-21, 2011.
The MDAM Registration Packet and Form will be available soon. We are planning to have the details finalized in early January and will post the registration information soon thereafter.
Membership Card Templates
Marie received an email from Wendy Melby, GLDD, regarding membership cards. As you may or may not be aware, headquarters no longer sends membership cards when you renew your membership or become a new member. One of the other divisions made their own template and was willing to share it with us. Please click here if you would like to download the template for use in your chapters. What a great way to say thanks for renewing your membership with IAAP!
Raffle Guidelines
We have been notified that a Raffle Application and fee must be submitted and paid in order to conduct a 50/50 Raffle or Silent Auction. The MD Board will be applying for this for MDAM. Please take a few minutes to review the criteria (click here) and be sure your chapter is in line with these guidelines.
MD Awards
1. Star Performers - Do you have a shining star in your chapter? The Star Performer form is available by clicking here. Forms must be submitted to Ruth Sorensen, MD Vice President, by April 15, 2011 to be recognized at MDAM 2011.
2. Newsletter & Website Awards - The criteria for the Newsletter and Website Awards is available by clicking here and here. Connie Lingle, CPS, Team Leader, is already lining up the judges for these awards. We hope every chapter will submit their newsletters and allow access to their websites to be judged for this coveted award.
3. Avery Award - The Avery Award for Excellence application is due February. The link with the information should be available soon on the IAAP website.
