President's Message
WOW!! January is over and believe it or not the days are geting longer again bringing us closer to Spring. Today Michigan is under a blizzard warning - hard to believe that Spring is right around the corner.
Your Michigan Division board is working together to bring you a very fun, informative and educational MDAM. If you have never attended MDAM before, if you are a new memberor a visitor to a local chapter, please consider attending MDAM in Lansing this May. We are going to have a rockin' good time.
With Passion & Purpose,
Marie A. Ouzoonian, CPS/CAP
Michigan Division President
MDAM Registration Packet & Form
The MDAM Registration Packet and Form are now available on the MD website. The Michigan Division board has kept the price the same as the last few years to encourage participation and attendance. We have a great weekend planned for you.
Join us on Friday for a technology seminar on PowerPoint 2010 which also includes lunch. The LAN meeting is a must with a great program on team building with some rock 'n roll thrown in for fun. And you won't want to miss the Open House. We are 'shakin' things up this year with a '50s Sock Hop theme. So dig out those saddle shoes and poodle skirts and come and have some fun networking and dancing to the oldies!
Saturday begins with our Business Session which includes the election of the MD board for 2011-2012 and Bylaws changes. Our recognition luncheon is always a highlight as we recognize those attendees who attained their certification, were nominated as a Star Performer or have an IAAP anniversary.
Saturday afternoon will include a speaker who will present on Leadership Soft Skills. We will finish up the weekend with a banquet and installation of officers. So don't delay - get that registration form filled out and sent in for a 'rocking good time!
MDAM Volunteer Sheets
One of my goals as MD President this year was to review and update the MDAM Volunteer Sheets into a format that is easy to understand and that can be used for years to come. The MD board worked on these sheets at several board meetings and even held a conference call to finalize these documents in time for MDAM this year. Well, the process has been completed and the forms have been uploaded to and are available on the Michigan Division website under the 'Annual Meeting' tab.
If you are new to IAAP and Michigan Division, you may not be familiar with these sheets. Chapters and/or individuals are encouraged to help with a task related to running a smooth MDAM. If you are interested in helping, please visit the website to review these Volunteer Sheets. They are listed in alphabetical order under the "About Us" tab. Just click on "Annual Meeting" and "Call for Volunteers" to find all of the sheets. We encourage you to get involved and sign up to help make this YOUR annual meeting.
Star Performers
Look around you...do you see someone who should be nominated as a Star Performer? Someone who is always at a chapter meeting, always helping, is involved as a team member or leader? The Star Performer has to meet one of the Member of Excellence criteria. So look around and nominate that person in your chapter, another chapter, or the division. Click here for a Star Performer form. The deadline to submit the form and email to Ruth Sorensen is April 15, 2011.
Pathways to Excellence
The MD Board would like to encourage each member to become a Member of Excellence (MOE) this year. Click here to view the MOE criteria sheet. Take a look and get involved. It is not difficult to become a Member of Excellence.
Also, the MD Board would llike to encourage each chapter to become a Chapter of Excellence (COE) this year. Again, review the criteria sheet and give it a shot. You can do it. The COE criteria is available by clicking here.
Special Note: Only online submissions for the criteria worksheets are accepted at IAAP headquarters. Please do not submit via mail or fax.
One criteria for the COE is to submit teh Avery Great Results application. Eleven out of the 14 chapters submitted their form to IAAP headquarters. In addition, Michigan Division submitted the Division Avery application which is also one of the criteria for DOE. Great job everyone!
Nominations for Division Officer
The call to nominate MD officers has been sent out. Have you been thinking about taking that next leadership step and becoming a MD officer? Nominations forms are available on the MD website and will be due by February 28, 2011. I encourage you to give it a try.
